Tom Landon This is another very fine album from Julius Vanderbilt who, it's clear, was already responsible for nearly everything I liked about The Dandelion Set. Some great poppy/proggy tunes and (occasional) interesting words, all with an indefinably "Canterburesque" air to them which gives it great charm. Thanks JV. Favorite track: Slumber.

Craig Manga Warm, whimsical and woozy. Textural tunes and twisted time-signatures for those of us who demand something a little different. Don't buy this if you have no spare time because this is going to take over your life, big style. Favorite track: Heavy Water.

Awake, it's time to re-arrange, and change the things of shape to come. We'll ride the calm before the storm, into each rain a little life must fall...

Who ploughed the furrow? Who kept it narrow? 'I' said the sparrow, 'with my bow and arrow' who pricked her finger and broke the spindle? who threads the needle and rigged the swindle? who never stepped on the broken staircase, and felt the freefall into empty space? I'll see you there And certain things will always be uncertain, don't shun the stranger, don't close your curtains, don't wait for danger, don't raise your banners, thoughts of tomorrow just end in sorrow. I'll see you there, I'll see you there..

We're the ones you don't see, we don't wear the right clothes, we say all the wrong things, whistle when the wind blows. we are stuck outside here. We are moving backwards through your great advances, we don't know the first thing about how the world is. we still play with toys here Other people playing in the park together, we alone are indoors and miss the sunny weather. we are still outside here.

about

Julius Vanderbilt has conjured up another hybrid of 70’s prog, electronic music and jazzy psychedelia with his new Heavy Water project and the eponymous first album.
Sounding like the lost soundtrack to a vintage sci-fi/horror movie, the 11 tracks reflect the dystopian atmosphere of our currently fragmented world, as viewed through the wrong end of a telescope by a 70’s rockband.

"Travel through tricky time signatures and periodic tables on a baroque (un)fairground ride with Heavy Water. On this brief but beautiful trip you'll veer between schoolroom séance and science lessons, psychedelic slumber songs and microscopic masterpieces on a fantastic, organic, electronic voyage." (Kevin Foakes aka DJ Food/Strictly Kev)
